Tortured Souls: Acceptance

Writer’s Notes: Everything has a story, and this is certainly no exception. Several months ago I posted, on this site, a six part story titled Tortured Souls. I was never very happy with the story in its entirety. Part one being the only one that I was satisfied told its story. So, I pulled down the other five parts. Part one stood well on its own, but over the past several months I’ve felt like the rest of the story needed to be told, it finally got to the point it was nagging at me. I made the time to re-tool the story. Of the parts, part one (Tortured Souls: Punishment) and part five (Tortured Souls: Acceptance) told what needed to be told. The rest was just fluff that didn’t build the story, or the characters, any for my satisfaction. As I am a tough customer to please, I cut what I felt wasn’t detrimental to the storyline. To any of you who, all those months ago, read the series in its entirety I hope you remember it well as parts two, three, four and six will remain on my hard drive, in the dark, never to grace this webpage again. Lina tossed in her sleep restlessly not able to relax enough to fall into sleep. Her mind was aglow with thoughts and worries, she was getting carried away and she knew it she was obsessed and couldn’t control her feelings or desires any longer.

Into the X Ch. 04

“Note: For those of you who are die hard X-Men fans, this story’s setting is more closely related to the newest cartoon than to the X-books. However, there are a few differences between the cartoon and my story. The first of the differences is that most of the X-Men are young adults (18 – 23 years old). Kitty and Jamie are the youngest at 18. The Professor and Logan are obviously the oldest members of the team. The second difference is that not all of them are in high school. Kitty and Jamie are seniors in high school. The others, with the exception of Logan and the Professor, are in college. The purpose of this note is to keep certain people off my back. Like the ones who only look at these stories so they can complain about the people being underage in them. Why it should matter when it’s a fictitious work is beyond me. The taxi took me to my hotel on West End Avenue and I hurried inside due to the winter cold biting me. The sun was already up and even though it was after 7, the flight from LAX that early always left me wanting more sleep, so I turned in for a few hours. I slept a short and dreamless sleep, awakened by the phone clanging. It felt like I was sleeping in Big Ben at midnight.

“Yo Kain, are ya awake?” It was Jimmy, the drummer. He always called too early when we played the east coast. For him it was a triumphant return home since he grew up in Brooklyn. (more…)
