The ear-shattering shriek of the alarm clock man-handled me out of the deepest sleep. The room was still blanketed in blackness and a sheen of sweat coated my skin.

At long last, Dallas was upon them and Jennifer was as nervous as a long-tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs. She had sent her parents tickets, hoping they might just come but knew they probably wouldn’t. They weren’t really the type to come to a concert but she at least hoped to see them backstage. Pushing herself through the crowd, she came across Nick. “Hey,” she said, grabbing a hold of his arm. “Have you seen Fatima?”
