CSI: Revelations

Possibly due to the airline strikes and resulting drop in tourism, it was unexpectedly quiet in the city that never sleeps. Grissom got caught up on paperwork as the rest of the team processed remaining cases. Although odd, it was reassuring that nature and humanity could co-exist with no fatal occurrences. While that would certainly change, it made for a welcome break.

Grissom assembled the team in an impromptu meeting in the ME’s autopsy room. Nick, Sara, and Warrick sat on the empty, shiny steel table while the others huddled around. (more…)

CSI Resolutions and Romance

The month following his attack had been hard on Danny. He’d been in the job long enough to be jostled before, sworn at, spat at, but the memory of the knife pressed against his throat wouldn’t go away. The sensation invaded his dreams, causing him to wake up almost every night and he was getting more tired by the day. Every time he swallowed he was sure he was reliving those sensations again. Eating made him retch, drinking wasn’t much better and all of his pants felt looser than before his assailant had surprised him. (more…)

Cincinnati Apocalypse Ch. 02

The problem with Americans–one of the many, anyway–Giles thought, was that they had too much of everything, including too much money and too much time on their hands. What else could explain the vulgar extravagance of a place like Disneyland?

The staff at the entrance turnstiles–guards, really, the former Watcher mused–had given him a hand-painted map–well, a brochure containing a tri-fold photograph of a hand=painted map–of the gigantic amusement park, showing its division into various “lands”: Opening off the Town Square, Main Street, a promenade between false-fronted buildings resembling a pristine small town’s chief boulevard led, to the left, to an implausible Adventureland and, to the right, to an equally unlikely Tomorrowland. Beyond Adventureland was New Orleans Square (so, presumably the park was in Louisiana, not Anaheim, California, after all, Giles told himself) and, beyond it, Critter Country. To the right of Critter Country lay Frontierland, then Fantasyland, and, finally, the circular park came round, as it were, once more, to Tomorrowland. The vast size of the park was intimidating, even with the map in hand, especially when he had to find one person among the thousands who milled and strolled about the wide lanes, crowded the various people movers, and waited in long, serpentine lines that folded back upon themselves numerous times as the park’s visitors waited their turn for the few minutes’ thrill this or that attraction or ride promised to provide. Americans, Giles told himself for the hundredth time since he’d become a resident of the United States nearly a decade ago, were definitely insane, there was no doubt about it. No wonder the demons had chosen to locate not one but two (and maybe more) of the inter-dimensional portals between their realm and the Earth, the Hellmouths, in such a country. (more…)

A dark figure stood before an altar raising his hands to the heavens. His words were incomprehensible, seemingly a gibberish language that had no meaning. His black robes hung over the woman that lay on the table. Her nakedness glowing the torchlight.

Tears streamed down her face as she tried to no avail to free her hands that were bound to the table. Her eyes never leaving the robed figure that worked some ancient ritual around her. She had long since given up on yelling for help. Her mouth was sealed shut by something strong. She could not feel her lips, it was as if he had sewn her lips shut. (more…)

“…And it is my sad duty that I must step down as your Commanding Officer today.” Colonel Hunter said over the public announcement system.

“Well said, love…” Major Sloan said running her hand down his chest and kissing him gently.

“Now you are in charge” Hunter replied with a grin.

It was an interesting first week of retirement. Phone calls, e-mails, and cleaning out the office. Ethan, for the first time felt as if he were a normal person. In some ways he felt weak, though other times, free. He could freely say, “I love you” to Sloan and not think about anyone”s opinion that it was wrong. (more…)

Sally Webster was feeling nervous. She and Maria had been planning a girly get-together after hours at the Rovers for a few days now and tonight was the night. However, this was not a standard after hours lock in. This was going to be a mammoth all women orgy – providing people didn’t chicken out and they all turned up.

It was now just coming up to eleven o’clock and thankfully thought Sally all six women that had been invited were in the pub, although nobody had mentioned what was about to happen. Amy leaned against Beth, trying to get her stomach to quit rolling. She was white as a sheet.

“He’s not picking us up himself, is he?” Alyssa asked for the third time. “Surely he’s gonna send a car.”

“I think that answers your question,” Thi said, pointing. Dom stood on the curb next to a limo. Alyssa squealed and ran to him. He met her half way.

“Ew. Get a room,” Nicki called out. She picked up hers and Alyssa’s suitcases and started forward.

Amy winced and rubbed her stomach. She and Thianna were having coffee at Café du Monde.

“What’s wrong?” Thi asked.

“Nothing. He just moved.”

“So it’s a he today.”

“I don’t know what else to call it.”

“That’s easy.” She leaned forward. “Find out.”

Amy did the same. “We don’t want to.”

“Ladies.” They looked up to find two guys standing at their table. The taller one smiled at them. “My friend and I were wondering if we can join you. There’s no other tables open.”
