A Dance To Remember Ch. 02

Weeks passed since the night she met Vin Diesel.

Wendi had just about convinced herself she must have been mistaken. Vin Diesel choosing HER out of all those girls on the dance floor? How ludicrous!!

A Drunken Patron

Mardi Gras… A time for tourists. I was glad my bar was away from the main streets. I didn’t tend to get the rowdy crowds, just the regulars and friends that frequented my bar. It was settled in an alley, with no sign above the door. I advertised by word of mouth, and I called it Nightshade. It was a place for people to get together away from the crowds, and I did do a lot of business on Mardi Gras. I had a bouncer that sat just inside the door by the name of Nick. *A Little R&R: Ch 1: The Big Picture*

Reno propped himself against one of the main support for the overhead outside the Shinra building. He flicked the flint on his lighter and touched the sparked flame to the tip of his cigarette, drawing the warm smoke into his lungs. He exhaled sharply and turned his attention to his companion and long time partner, Rude. Rude was generally the silent type and tradition stood Reno always initiated the conversation, usually with something inane. The common room was nearly empty as Reno lazed across the marble floors. Most of the employees were up, showered and had already eaten breakfast, including Rude who sat on one of the sofas, absorbed in a magazine. Reno had taken his time and allowed Rude to get out of bed before he did, shower before he did, and eat breakfast without him. If he wasn’t allowed to stay the hell away from him, he would make the space as best he could. Seeing the indomitable man alone in the common room sent a tinge of excitement tingling up his spine. Reno moistened his lower lip with the tip of his tongue and crept around the back of the sofa, hesitating a moment before wrapping his arms around massive shoulders and leaning in to see what he was so intently reading. Reno strolled through the doorway, rubbing the towel on his head from the morning’s shower. He was only partially in uniform for this time of day, but since it was a holiday weekend, no one certainly was going to push the point. “I need to do something with my hair. It’s a mess.”
